I'm in a few professional esthetician groups on Facebook, and a few weeks ago one of these groups ran a giveaway. This group in particular is actually run by Rachel Tolve, the founder/formulator/CEO/esthetician behind ModVellum Clinical (#careergoals). One year ago today, I opened my doors and took my first client. Since then, I've been pampering clients, shaping brows, and takin' names. In this first year, I've been steadily building my client list and filling my appointment book. Since August, I've been consistently celebrating profitable months. I joined the Bellevue Business & Professional Association and Green Bay's Rising Tide Society, from which I've met so many amazing local business owners and formed valuable partnerships and friendships. I even had an article about my business published in the Green Bay Press Gazette. And to cap this first year off, I had my studio repainted and redesigned last weekend to better reflect the brand I've been trying to build.
It hasn't always been glamorous, but it has been rewarding. I've gone in ridiculously early and have stayed late to the point that the hallway lights go out. I've done countless loads of laundry (seriously...forever doing laundry). Numerous coffee runs. But I've also sent hundreds of thank you cards to my clients. I've sent many clients home with complimentary samples. I've listened to my clients' travel stories and shared personal milestones. I've learned to step outside my comfort zone and have seen what I'm capable of as a person and as a business owner.
Thank you to my clients, you are so wonderful. You are the reason why my business is here. You are the reason why I have been able to turn my passion into my career. Thank you for all the before and after pictures you've let me take, the reviews you've written, and the friends you've referred. Thank you for choosing me to be your esthetician, your brow girl, your skincare guru.
Thank you to my mom, my sister, and my future husband Matthew. To my mom, thank you for your advice, your knowledge, your ideas, your support, and your love. You have made being an entrepreneur feel less lonely. To my sister, thank you for being my biggest guinea pig. Thank you for being my very first brow client and for continuing to be my brow model, skin model, etc. To Matt, thank you for your love and support, for being a sounding board, for understanding the late nights and the stress. Thank you for all the times you've come to help me fold laundry or bring me lunch or just come to visit me.
